Dr Sundarum joined EMA in 1998 after attaining dual specialty residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Internal Medicine (IM) at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago. He then completed a fellowship in Occupational Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Prior to his residency training, he secured a Masters in Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1992. Dr Sundarum originates from India where he earned his medical school training at the Gandhi Medical College in the south Indian city of Hyderabad. He emigrated to the USA in 1989 for post-graduate medical training.
He has current Board Certifications in – American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) and American Board of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABNEM). Prior (1997-2007) certification in American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
Dr Sundarum is passionate about caring for patients with wide range of musculoskeletal/spine disorders, nerve/joint disorders and pain syndromes. He is highly proficient in utilizing the tools offered by Electrodiagnostic Medicine in providing answers to patients with nerve and muscle disorders. He believes that his patients are best served by being educated on the nature of their illness and being encouraged to take an active role in their recovery after being presented with various evidence-based treatment options.
He is passionate about tennis, and exploring new places and cultures. He has diverse interests in music, movies, world affairs and culinary delights. He has a daughter in college and a son in high school.
